What is Backstage Taiwan?

Backstage Taiwan is a 6-day, fully-immersive cross-cultural service-learning program where US and Taiwanese youth (ages 13–17) are mixed into teams of 6–8. Together, you will explore the real systems behind Taiwan β€” from midnight markets to urban water infrastructure β€” and document your journey in a team YouTube video.

Our program runs across 4 sessions in 3 cities:

  • Session 3 β€” Jul 26–31 Β | Β  Β  New Taipei
  • Session 4 β€” Aug 2–7 Β | Β  Β  Taoyuan

  • Two-Phase Process: Submitting this form is Phase 1. After your application is reviewed, accepted applicants will receive a separate link to complete Phase 2 (program fee payment).
  • Application Fee: A non-refundable $40 application fee is due upon submission of this form.
  • Processing Fee: All credit card payments are subject to an additional 3.5% processing fee.
  • Progress is NOT auto-saved. Please set aside 20–30 minutes and complete the form in one session.
  • Refund Policy: You may receive a 50% refund of the program fee if you withdraw within 2 weeks of submitting Phase 2 payment. No refund will be issued after 2 weeks. The Phase 1 application fee ($40) is non-refundable.

I, the undersigned parent or legal guardian, hereby give consent for my child to participate in Backstage Taiwan 2026, organized by WCEO (ζ…§ζ™Ίζ–‡ζ•™εŸΊι‡‘ζœƒ), and agree to the following:

1. Program Participation

I authorize my child to participate in Backstage Taiwan 2026, a 6-day cross-cultural service-learning program. I understand the program involves travel within Taiwan (Taipei, New Taipei, and/or Taoyuan), late-night field activities, service tasks, and cross-cultural team collaboration with local Taiwanese youth.

2. Supervision & Safety

I understand that WCEO staff and team leaders will supervise all participants throughout program hours. I acknowledge that participants will engage in real-world community environments and that WCEO will take reasonable precautions to ensure participant safety at all times.

3. Code of Conduct

I have reviewed the Backstage Taiwan 2026 Program Code of Conduct with my child. I agree that my child will abide by all program rules, treat all participants and community members with respect, and that violations of the Code of Conduct may result in removal from the program without refund.

4. Media & Photo Release

I authorize WCEO to use photographs, video footage, and/or audio recordings of my child taken during Backstage Taiwan 2026 for educational, promotional, and documentation purposes, including the WCEO website, social media, newsletters, and program reports. If I do not consent to media use, I will notify WCEO in writing at [email protected] prior to the start of the program.

5. Refund Policy

I understand and agree to the following:
(a) The Phase 1 application fee ($40 USD) is non-refundable under all circumstances.
(b) If my child withdraws within 2 weeks of Phase 2 program fee payment, I am eligible for a 50% refund of the program fee.
(c) No refund will be issued for withdrawals made more than 2 weeks after Phase 2 payment.

6. Communication Consent

I consent to receive program-related communications from WCEO via email and/or phone regarding Backstage Taiwan 2026, including confirmations, updates, and logistical information.
